Tips & Tricks to Make the Steamed Apple Dessert
Ready to make this steamed apple dessert? Here are some tips and tricks that might help you nail the recipe.
- When making the apple jaggery filling, remember to keep the heat low while cooking the mixture. High heat can cause the jaggery to burn, and the filling to have a darker color too.
- Also keep the heat low when dry roasting the rice flour.
- If you want a bit of texture, you can also add some semolina into the rice flour.
- To lend some extra flavor to the filling, you can also add a splash of rose water or some cardamom powder into it.
- If you love chocolate, you can also add a spoonful of unsweetened cocoa powder into the mixture to make a chocolate filling.
- If the jaggery mixture seems to be hardening up, and turning too thick, you can add a splash of milk or water to loosen up the mixture and get it to the right consistency.
- If you don’t have banana leaves, but still want to replicate the same recipe, you can cut a sheet of parchment paper into small rectangles and use them instead.
