How to Make Buffalo Mushrooms?
Ingredients
To make buffalo mushrooms, you will need only a few ingredients.
12-15 medium-sized mushrooms(cleaned, peeled and stems removed), ½ cup of cream cheese (I used garlic and chive), Few green onions chopped, ½ cup of Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce(and more to brush), 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (I used plain, unseasoned variety)
Dip:
⅓ cup mayonnaise (avocado oil), ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ tablespoon Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce, Salt and pepper to taste
Method of Making Buffalo Mushrooms:
- Clean, peel and remove the stems of the mushrooms. Chop the stems and transfer the chopped stems into a bowl.
- Add cream cheese, green onions and mix well. Our buffalo mushroom filling is ready.
- Fill each mushroom cap with a spoonful of this mixture and set aside.
- Now take the hot sauce in a bowl and breadcrumbs in another bowl. Dip each mushroom in hot sauce and place them in the breadcrumb bowl. Coat each mushroom evenly with breadcrumbs and set aside.
- Follow the same process to dip and coat all stuffed mushrooms.
- Meanwhile, preheat the air-fryer to 375F for 4-minutes. If using the CrispLid, cover the basket with aluminum foil or Parchment paper. Now place the mushroom bites carefully.
- Cool them for 15’minutes and flip them after half cooked after 8-minutes of air frying.
- Now brush the mushrooms with hot sauce again and air fry them for another 5-minutes at 375F.
- Serve the mushrooms hot or warm.
- To make the dipping sauce, take all the ingredients in a bowl.
- Mix well and garnish with green onions. Serve with buffalo mushrooms.
- Enjoy!
NOTE:
- Do not use seasoned breadcrumbs as it may make the dish a bit salty. Since my cheese was salted and the sauce has salt in it, it didn’t use seasoned breadcrumbs in this recipe.
- If you want, you can coat the mushrooms twice with breadcrumbs. After the first coat, dip them in egg white and coat them again with breadcrumbs. This gives the mushrooms a really nice texture after air frying.
- Baking - for baking option, preheat the oven to 350F and bake the mushrooms on a lined baking sheet for 12-15 minutes.
- The time of baking or air drying may vary based on the size of the mushrooms. Keep an eye on mushrooms after 10-minutes of cooking. The mushrooms should look brown and feel crisp at the end of first round of air frying before brushing with hot sauce.
