My vegan gyro is partly inspired from an Indian kabab roll and traditional Greek gyros. It has spicy Seekh kabob inspired patties, but all Greek toppings. There is pita bread, vegan tzatziki, cucumber and tomatoes, red onions, and cilantro.

How to Make Vegan Gyro?
Here are the ingredients that you will need to make vegan gyros.
Ingredients Of Vegan Gyro:
1 pack of Sweet Earth® Awesome Grounds, 2 Serrano peppers (deseeded), 3-4 large garlic cloves, ½ red onion (medium-sized) (approx ½ cup chopped), 1-inch ginger (peeled and roughly chopped), ½ cup cilantro (washed and roughly chopped), ½ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon curry powder, 1 ½ teaspoon garam masala, 1 ½ tablespoon tomato paste, 1 teaspoon melted vegan ghee or butter, Salt to taste, Oil to baste and grill
To Serve:
Pita bread or any flat bread, Vegan Tzatziki, Cucumber and tomato salad, Chopped cilantro, Lemon wedges
Method:
- In a food processor, take all herbs, spices and salt. Process till finely minced.
- Now add tomato paste, and process well.
- Add ghee and Sweet Earth Awesome Grounds and process till all the ingredients are mixed well in the grounds.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl.
- Heat a seasoned grill pan and brush it with oil.
- Grease your palms and take a ball sized mixture in your palm. Carefully, flatten and make long patties of out it. Use the same process to make patties from the rest of the mixture.
- Now cook the patties on the grill pan for about 7-8 minutes and then flip and cook for another 7 minutes. These patties took around 14-16 minutes to cook thoroughly. Baste with oil in between cooking so that they don’t dry out.
- Transfer to cooked patties onto a plate.
- Warm a pita bread and add a patty. You may also slice the patty and use it as gyro strips.
- Now add chopped cucumber and tomato salad, vegan tzatziki and lime juice.
NOTES:
- Store the grilled patties in a freezer bag for up to a month. Reheat in the microwave or air fry them right before serving.
- If you want a mildly spiced gyro, then reduce the Serrano peppers and chili powder.
- Vegan Tzatziki: Take 1 ½ cup of vegan yogurt and add the juice of ¼th of a lemon. Season with salt and pepper and ¼ teaspoon pounded garlic. Add ½ cup of grated and drained cucumber and mix well. Mix in chopped dill and cilantro. Drizzle some olive oil and serve with the vegan gyros.
